| Gold medal, personal best and national record. 28 September, 2018 | | I took the A1/A19 to Jarrow for the North-East Masters Throws Pentathlon on the weekend of 22nd September. The event started well with a first place in the Hammer, throwing 25.88m. Next up was the Shot Putt and a season's best of 8.78m saw me hold the lead. The next event was the Heavy Hammer for which I am the Irish record holder. In the first round I really got hold of the implement and sent it out to 10.58m, smashing my Irish record and winning that event. The fourth event was the Discus, a solid throw of 25.06m kept me well in the lead. The Javelin was the final event, and whilst it is my weakest discipline of the five, a throw of 17.93m was enough to see me win the event overall with a total points score of 2165, a personal best by nearly 100 points. A good day out it has to be said!!! | » Back to News Index |
