The new arena at Picketts Lock was the venue for the UK Masters Indoor Pentathlon Championships 2009, and Jim, representing Ireland, did not disappoint. The five event competition started well with a national record in the 60 metres hurdles(10.47secs), this was not altogether unexpected as Jims hurdles training had been going well. After the five events Jims total of 2,147 points was another national record. In the recent European Indoor Championships, that Jim was unable to attend, those performances would have placed him 10th and 12th respectively. Jims focus now turns to the decathlon and an assault on the Irish record that has stood for 3 years.
